These cheese and walnut pizza appetizers are a great option for a variety of occasions. This tasty pizza can also be had as your main course on a regular night.
Here we demonstrate how to make a caramelized onion, Gorgonzola cheese and walnut pizza.
- 1 cup Gorgonzola de dulce (or Gorgonzola or blue cheese), sweet and soft
- 1/2 cup walnuts, slightly chopped
- 1 pre-made pizza crust
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- Salt and pepper
Using a pre-made pizza crust, lay it onto a sheet pan. In a large skillet, cook onions in 3 tablespoons of canola oil until soft and caramel in color. Spread cooled onions over dough. Top with cheese and walnuts. Season to taste. Bake at 475 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Once done you can allow your pizza to cool a little before attempting to cut up into bite-size pieces to create your pizza appetizers.
