Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 cup of pizza sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese

Surprised to find honey in a dough recipe? Sweeteners are added to the recipe because of the effect that the sugar will have on the dough. You can read up on that later if you are intrigued. But for now, let’s get into the actual preparation of the dough.

Preparation

Add your flour and yeast to a bowl, and then add your warm water, honey, olive oil, and salt. Mix together, cover with a kitchen towel, and let the dough rise for about 30 minutes. Knead the dough, flatten it out, cut it into quarters and shape into individual pizzas. Top your dough with some pizza sauce and sprinkle with cheese. You can add whatever you want, but too much topping will weigh your pizza down and make it mushy at the end. If you have one, you can use a cooking stone in the oven to hold the pizza as it cooks. Cook for about 12 minutes at 450 F. Plate and serve.
